The best triathletes in the world meet at the "Festival" of the Challenge Salou

Salou. Costa Dorada. 23 May 2018. The Challenge Salou 2018 begins tomorrow, which in this edition has a novelty called "The Festival", a renewed format with activities for the whole family. Triathletes from 27 countries and 29 provinces of Spain will participate in the event. Challenge Salou is part of an international triathlon league consisting of 44 events held in 24 countries.

"The Festival", a renewed format of the Challenge Salou, comes hand in hand with the Challenge Family, will offer a whole series of activities for the participants and their families. The main objective of the festival is to accommodate the companions of the triathletes who can participate and enjoy the different events of the long weekend.

"The Festival" will start tomorrow, Friday, May 25 in the afternoon, with the opening of the Expo and with a zumba masterclass by the instructors of the Tennis Club Salou H20.

On Saturday May 26 at 8 will be the turn of the Sailfish Open Water, a new test that is sponsored by the great Marcel Zamora, five-time champion of IronMan in Nice (France), and where a circuit of 1.9km will swim by the beach of Salou, known as the beach of Europe.

At 10 o'clock the Challenge Breakfast Run will take place, a charity race of 4 km suitable for all audiences, both for the participants in the Sunday triathlon and for the companions or people of the territory. An hour later there will be a race for the little ones, the Kids Run. About 12 o'clock, the breafing will take place in English and Spanish, and then PASTA PARTY will be replaced. To finish the day on Saturday, at 6pm there will be a 4.5km race exclusively for women, the Challenge Woman.

On Sunday, May 27, the main event and the main event of the Challenge Salou will take place. At 7 o'clock the starting shot of the Half distance will be given (1,900m of swimming + 90km of cycling + 21km of running on foot) in a renewed circuit of three laps faster and closer to the spectator. 30 minutes later it will be the turn of the short distance (1,900m of swimming + 60km in cycling + 11km of running), which returns by popular demand after two years without being celebrated. Finally, at 7.35h, the Aquathlon will start (1,900m of swimming + 11km of running on foot).

The mayor, Pere Granados, said that the City Council is committed to this type of event to seasonally season, while we serve as prescribers through the athletes who make up the test. Granados, added that it is a test where you participate athletes from more than 27 countries who at the same time practice sports, can enjoy the magnificent environment that surrounds us, which shows the great internationalization capacity that Salou has.

The Councilor for Sports, Dani Lopez, has valued very positively that one more year the Challenge is played in the municipality since we place Salou in the first sport level, there is encouraged to participate in the challenge and all the complementary activities throughout the end of week.

The manager of the Tourist Board, Juan Carlos Capilla, thanked the brand to bet on the municipality, valuing the effort, commitment and willingness to continue betting on sports and quality tourism. Chapel, has highlighted the great impact generated by the municipality sports competitions of this high level.

The test will distribute 25,000 euros in prizes among the participants. The first, second and third classifieds, both in men's and women's categories, will take 3,500, 2,100 and 1,400 euros, respectively.
