The rescue and lifeguard service starts its activity on the beaches

The rescue team will work from 19 positions on the beaches

Salou. Costa Dorada. 23 May 2018. The deployment of the rescue and lifeguard service, which operates on the beaches of the capital of the Costa Dorada, began in the middle of this month with fifteen rescue workers, a figure that will be extended to thirty in high season. Currently, service is provided from 14 fixed points and this figure will reach 19 at the peak of the summer season. Today, Tuesday, May 22, this service has officially begun, although it has been active since the last day of the 15th. The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has urged the human team that makes up the rescue and first aid service "to offer a good service to the group of bathers acting with great professionalism since it is a fundamental service for the population and visitors where we can not afford any negative news, "he said. The visit was also attended by the Councilor for Beaches, Julia Gómez, as well as the Councilor for Citizen Security, Mobility and Civil Protection, David González. Gonzalez explained that "we can be satisfied that last year there were no fatalities and, the truth is that statistics is complicated, because the coast there is always a lot of bathers and therefore a high risk, but in any case , as it could not be otherwise, the objective is to repeat the 2018 season with a balance 0 of victims. " In addition, the councilor has insisted that "we strengthen teamwork this year and more than ever coordination with local police services," he said.

On the beaches of Salou there are multiple services; such as inflatable platforms, among other aquatic facilities that are installed in the months of July and August; five amphibious chairs for people with reduced mobility (by appointment); an exclusive ambulance to attend to possible emergencies on the beaches; a water scooter; two kayaks; two rescue tables; an ecological electric bicycle; and two semi-rigid boats. The surveillance service starts at ten o'clock in the morning and ends at eight o'clock in the high season. Until May 31 the surveillance is operational from 10 am to 6 pm; from the 1st to the 14th of June between 10 am and 7 pm; from June 15 to September 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from September 16 to 30 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the last fortnight, until October 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We must remember that the civic ordinance provides penalties of 400 euros for the bathroom with red flag in order to strengthen the safety of bathers.
