Salou té història i és llarga, no només per les restes iberes (poblada de la Cella) o romans (vil·la de Barenys) que es poden visitar sinó també perquè té Carta de Població des del 1194. Ni més ni menys que 830 anys des que el rei Alfons II d'Aragó atorgués aquest document fundacional i per això Salou ha recordat aquesta efemèride amb diversos actes.
