Muralla del Setge <br /> Cambrils. Costa Dorada

The Wall of Setge located in the town of Cambrils, as part of the old town, is a fragment of the old medieval wall that protected the town. The city was divided and plundered by the troops and shot down a part of the walls by the Castilian troops. These remains are well known by a tragic historical event happened in 1640 during the War of the Reapers (the war that affected much of the Principality of Catalonia between 1640 and 1652, and which had the most lasting effect of the signature Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659 between Spain and France). The Spanish troops of Philip IV invaded the village and found the people's resistance Cambrils. The monument de la Hoz (Estela Falç in Catalan), remember the historical fact that caused the victims and the sculpture is located next to the door of the Main Street of Cambrils, the famous sculptor Enric Pladevall, which won first prize Vila sculpture of Cambrils and is recognized nationally and internationally for his career.   The army besieged filipista Cambrils for two days, and the Catalans, as they could hardly resist artillery (only had two guns in front of the twenty opponents), and attempted to ambush the attackers on the outskirts of the town, trapping the Spanish cavalry, but the Spaniards responded by bombing the town. The resistance lasted three days in the city until the Catalans surrendered and agreed to the capitulation for the next day. Ver Muralla del Setge en un mapa más grande
