The Restaurant Association of the Part Alta born with 25 partner institutions

Tarragona. Costa Daurada. A total of 25 establishments are already part of the Restaurant Association of the Upper (ARPA), an entity created this summer to promote the old town of Tarragona and dining destination that has been introduced this morning in the City Hall of Tarragona. The promoters of the Association are Quentin Quinsac, restaurant AQ, Carles Llobet (Los Arcos) and John Ruiz (Sadoll). With this initiative they seek to unite the varied cuisine of the neighborhood and " promote the Parte Alta in the city" as highlighted by the president of the ARPA, Quentin Quinsac. "This is not an elitist association, he has remarked," among the 25 associates people can choose from special cooking up to affordable meals. Under one brand and with the aim to have as a collective force to secure benefits for partners, the Association also wants to promote one of the most attractive tourist areas of the city, the Parte Alta, remaining open to other areas of the city. Currently, restaurants assoiated to ARPA employ 300 people and can provide food to 2,000 diners simultaneously. The ARPA was created in the context of the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan for the Parte Alta (PIPA) and is willing to project the image of Tarragona from the gastronomic point of view. As councilor responsible for PIPA and Deputy Mayor of the City Hall, Carmen Crespo, has congratulated the organizers of the initiative and has reached out "to develop any good idea from the Association."   The first action to be known was the development of the spinet lid "cargolins", a traditional dish of the festival of Santa Tecla de Tarragona. Each restaurant has prepared its own version, which could savor the occasion of the feast on 20 September of 2009.
