Cambrils. Costa Dorada. October 24, 2012. For the seventh consecutive year this fall the Culture Department of the City of Cambrils organizing a series of memory in order to present some aspects of the recent history of the town. This year starts spreading on tourism, a phenomenon that has transformed the economy, life, landscape and customs arena. The arrival of cycle tourism in Cambrils (1950-1962) will be located right at the beginning of this phenomenon, now half a century ago, when holidaymakers (who for years made ​​trips to the coast and there had built a monumental house ) began to be accompanied by an increasing trickle of people of European origin. The climate, landscape, dealing with people and the gastronomy are attracted to camp sites, inns, private apartments, hotels and restaurants. Turn, responded to this cambrilencs arrival of tourists: they create new businesses, immigrants came seeking a job opportunity, began to take care of the urban landscape, they improve communications, we planned urban growth ... The oral testimonies and documents that have been located on the table to allow the various factors, elements and actors involved in shaping Cambrils as a tourist town. Following the format of previous years, the series will include two panel discussions involving various versions, a conference, two exhibitions and a guided historical tour of the township. This cycle continues the line of research and reporting on historical memory that develop History Museum and the Municipal Archives Cambrils Cambrils within its annual program.
