Tarragona presents the book "History of the Basin Barbera"



Tarragona. Costa Dorada. The full story of the first settlers of the present territory of Conca de Barbera, from the Palaeolithic to the Roman, is now available to everyone through a thorough editorial work promoted by the Regional Council with the collaboration of the Centre Studies of the basin and the financing of Tarragona. History of the Conca de Barbera. The roots of the past (Cossetània, 2011) whose authors seventeen recognized historians, archaeologists and other experts, coordinated by Antonio Carreras. The book was presented Saturday night at the Cave of the Major Source of Espluga of Francolí in a ceremony presided by the deputy mayor of the City Council and David Rovira, attended by Chairman of the Board of County Conca de Barbera, Raymond Borrás, regional archaeologist for the Department of Culture of the Government, Maria Adserias, and coordinator of the book. The presentation was attended by mayors and other representatives from the local area. The roots of the past explores the historical origins of the territory from the track that man has made in the same places as emblematic as Major Source of the cave, the Espluga, the caves of the Valley and the Duke , Montblanc, or Salt Mill Milmanda and the municipality of Vimbodí and Poblet. Rovira thanked the support of the Council, particularly its president, Josep Poblet, in publishing the volume. The book The Roots of the past is the second of a total of five volumes on the history of the Conca de Barbera. The first, Art History, was launched just over two years.
