Tortosa. Terres de l'Ebre. September 29th 2012. Tortosa Museum, Historical and Archaeological Terres de l'Ebre, opens this Saturday 29 September at the old slaughterhouse complex modernist municipal district swirls. Tortosa City Council has restored the building in recent years in order to incorporate their cultural and tourist equipment necessary to tell the story of our city and its central role in the region. Tortosa Museum offers visitors a retrospective of the history of the city and the region from its origins to the present. It consists of the permanent exhibition hall, which is accessed by a reception space that also serves as a store and office desk. The facility is complete with room-booking with a catalog of over 5,000 references, the temporary exhibition hall Antonio Garcia, a didactic classroom and a multipurpose room. The whole museum occupies an area of ​​over 1,000 m2, being the permanent showroom space larger, with 600 m2 on two levels. Visitors will tour six areas where the history of Tortosa and its area of ​​influence, from prehistory to the present (I Origins, The Iberians II, III Dertosa Roman Turtuxa IV, V the center of the Crown of Aragon and Modernity VI). Presents the most representative pieces of each historical period from the museum's own collection and other museums have lent on deposit, such as the Prado Museum, MNAC and the Archaeological Museum. The tour includes two visual exposure, one on the Renaissance splendor of one of the periods in the city, and another dedicated to the twentieth century, with unpublished images of the city. There is also an art installation tortosí Leonardo Escoda called "Bone Wind," a contemporary work space and interacting with the content of the museum. At a cost of about 450,000 euros, is financed by equity contributions from the City Council and the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Ministry of Culture.
