Salou. Costa Dorada. 08 December 2024. Salou has joined the crochet trend this Christmas
and has released a
Christmas tree made of 300 colorful squares covering a 3.20 meter high iron structure. The initiative has been made possible thanks to the association
Grup de Dones de Salou, which has had the collaboration of the
City Council and several
merchants in the area.
About twenty women from the association have made the 20 by 20 centimeter squares since the summer, when the idea of
crocheting a Christmas tree for Salou began to take shape.
The tree has been installed in
Calle Ponent de Salou, in the old town of the capital of the
Costa Daurada, it has been
lit up in a festive event that has included children's workshops, the performance of Salou's singer Anna Tena, while the artist and illustrator Montse Bernaus painted a watercolor in situ with the fir as the protagonist. The party was completed with a popular chocolate bar.
The event was attended by the
mayor Pere Granados, accompanied by
councilor Julia Gómez and
councilor Hèctor Maiquez, who pressed the button for the magical moment of ignition, together with the
president of the Salou Women's Group, Sílvia Rovira.
