Cartel de la Fiesta Mayor de Salou 2020

Salou. Costa Dorada. 26 October 2020.
On October 30, Salou celebrates its Fiesta Mayor, commemorating the moment when it was born as a municipality after separating from Vila-seca. This year, however, the celebration will be virtual with more than twenty events for the whole family. The central moment will be the same day, October 30, with the traditional floral offering in the Santa María del Mar church, at 12 noon, and the planting of a commemorative tree for the 31st anniversary of the Segregation. It will be planted on the 30 de Octubre promenade, at 1:30 p.m., in a ceremony closed to the public.

That same day, you can participate in a popular paella contest, in digital format, where you will have to send a paella cooking recipe, with a photograph of the dish, to the email [email protected]. The originality of the dish and the presentation will be valued. The prize will be a dinner for two in a restaurant in Salou.

Coinciding with the Salou festival, the Library celebrates its 28th anniversary with various virtual activities related to the pedagogue and children's literature writer Gianni Rodari.

La Castañada with the Xic'S Club

The little ones can celebrate the Castañada and the Panellet Party on the social networks of the municipal children's club. On October 30, at 10 am the recipe for making panellets of the “Three Bessones” will be disseminated and at 12 pm they will teach fun ways to make panellet. In the afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., the Xic’s Club will teach how to make hot chocolate and the children will be able to show on social networks how they make the panellets and eat them.

On Saturday, October 31, at 12 noon, the workshop "How to eat a sweet potato" will be held on the networks, where it will be proposed to give it the shape of a mouse. The activity will be accompanied by several songs from the Castañada to enliven it.
To celebrate Halloween, on the 31st, boys and girls will also be encouraged to dress up and put on make-up for the occasion and publish a photograph of the result. And finally, on All Saints' Day, November 1, sayings and riddles will be spread throughout the day.

The scariest Halloween

For young people, the Salou City Council has prepared various challenges. The first will be on October 30, at 11 am, when they will have to post photographs on social networks "Decorate your space!", And at 6 pm the challenge will be to hold a workshop to make a "Terrifying cocktail without alcohol".

The next day, Saturday, October 31, at 11 am, the workshop "Dress up what you like best to spend a different Halloween" will be held, where young people will have to go dressed up throughout the day. At 6 pm, the costume can be expanded with "An ugly scar", with various proposals that will be put forward by Juventud Salou. And, at 8 pm, young people will be able to prepare "The most spectacular choreography" and share it with the whole world, through social networks.

 More activities of Fiesta Mayor

From October 29 to December 11, you can visit the exhibition "Salou disappeared. Old-fashioned town, beach and vacationers" in the Torre Vella, with 35 old photographs of Salou, ranging from the first decade of the 20th century to the 70s. A good part of them are part of the book "Salou disappeared", written by the archive technician of the Salou City Council, Judith Prat, and Joan Sardiña, from Salou. Visiting hours will be from Monday to Saturday (except holidays), from 6 to 8 p.m. The capacity will be limited to 6 people.

Likewise, until November 2, the festive elements of Salou will be exhibited through the windows of the Auditorium Theater (TAS), and can be seen from outside the enclosure.

In addition, from October 30, you can download "The little history of Salou", a short chronological narration of Salou, where the smallest of the house will be able to learn a little more about the city, its identity and its history, accompanied by the drawings of the well-known Pilarin Bayés.

Finally, you can send a photograph making panellets or eating a sweet potato to the email [email protected]. The best photographs will win a dinner for two in a restaurant in Salou.

The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has indicated that "one more year, we can celebrate a historical milestone, which meant a before and after in the history of our municipality."
