Salou, better than ever

Salou. Costa Dorada. 12 June 2020.
Salou, better than ever, is the slogan of the new campaign that the Salou Tourism Board will launch to attract visitors again. The campaign will target local markets to promote the accommodation, catering and commerce sector, and it will also do so by involving citizens and readapting their own audiovisual materials and resources.

The campaign wants to put an emphasis on positivism and the unique moment that has been generated from the exceptional we are experiencing. In a world of uncertainties, Salou wants to be a determined, safe and convinced destination that can restore the calm and longed-for well-being that the coronavirus health crisis has damaged so much.

Salou, better than ever, is part of an ambitious program of Reactivation and Promotion of the Tourism-Business Fabric of Salou (REPTTES), which readapts the work plan that the municipality had in the tourist field. REPTTES is based on 4 main axes:
  • Health / healthy lifestyle
  • Sustainability
  • Vitality
  • Security
To develop the REPTTES program, the Tourist Board and the Salou City Council have to do joint and transversal work with the municipality's business and tourism sector and with the residents of the capital of the Costa Dorada. For this reason, it plans to:
  • Actions aimed at citizens to make them participants in the event and the tourist nature of Salou
  • A campaign to attract local visitors
  • Another loyalty campaign through the tourist train, the smart beach system, a new information and accompaniment system for visitors and a sustainable mobility plan
In relation to the private sector, the actions that have already been taken and those that are planned are the following:
  • Tax measures of the Salou City Council to support companies in the municipality
  • Joint pressure with other destinations on the Catalan and state governments to also take measures to support the tourism and business sector
  • Campaigns to promote accommodation, the restaurants and commerce
  • Creation of new spaces to carry out tourist and cultural activities, such as the Mirador de la Cala Morisca, the surroundings of Villa de Barenys, or the Salou Lighthouse
  • Provide Salou companies with elements and materials for protection and security that help to strengthen trust in the municipality and its offer
  • Creation of a Business Advice and Support office (AIRE), where there will be two people who will report on any aspect related to COVID-19 and its link with tourism activity: permits, protocols, certifications, etc.
During the presentation of the REPTTES program, the mayor of Salou Pere Granados, said that the municipality is "more captivating than ever", and that "it is about regaining trust and tourist activity, supporting the fabric and business sectors, providing of new values and resources, as well as opening new spaces and tourist experiences ".

The mayor recalled that "Salou is a municipality that has been working on sustainability for a long time, in a broad and transversal sense", and mentioned the implementation of new technologies, for example, in the beach gauging control system . He has also referred to the environmental and landscape recovery of Cabo Salou, with the acquisition of privately owned farms, which have passed into the public domain and are now part of the tourism offer.

Granados was accompanied during the presentation by the manager of the Tourist Board, Marc Espada, and by the person in charge of Promotion, Natàlia Bel.
