After the alert decreed by the government of the Generalitat de Catalunya regarding the coronavirus, and with the aim of containing the contagion and avoiding the collapse of the health system, the Salou City Council has applied the recommendations of the health authorities and has proceeded to close to the public various municipal sports and training facilities. These are:
  • Masia Tous
  • Children's Space Railway Station
  • Nursery and primary schools
  • Institutes
  • Athena Center
  • Municipal School of Music of Salou (EMMS)
  • Day care centers
  • EOI Salou
  • Salou Center Pavilion
  • Ponent Pavilion
  • Cap Salou Pavilion
  • Municipal stadium
  • Local pool
  • Petanque slopes
  • Paddle tennis courts
All closed facilities will have a sign informing about their temporary closure. Activities and services have also been suspended until the Generalitat lifts the alert and the indications to close educational centers and public facilities.

On the other hand they are also affected:
  • the trenet service, which is out of service until Easter
  • selective processes
On the other hand, a monitoring commission has been created, chaired by the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, to control the epidemiological evolution in the municipality and adopt the most appropriate measures.

As the mayor has stated, "the measures we have taken respond to the will to follow the recommendations of the health authorities, in order to minimize, as much as possible, the risks of contagion." The mayor explained that so far "we have no contamination among the population of Salou, but are cases that have been declared to be imported from Vitoria."
