Salou. Costa Dorada. 03 March 2026. Very close to Easter, the City of Salou has presented "Salou, the history continues", the new tourist product that affects the millenary history of the capital of the Costa Dorada. The project will soon be completed with the future Neolithic Route, which is already being developed, to point out loud and clear that Salou is much more than a sun and beach destination.
This was explained by the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, during the presentation of "Salou, the history continues" to 400 people among businessmen in the tourism sector, representatives of associations and authorities of various administrations, such as the general director of Tourism of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Cristina Lagé.
Granados has pointed out that "Salou, the history continues" is a new way of discovering Salou, through its rich heritage, to demonstrate that "Salou is a modern city with a millenary history." It is also a bet to deseasonalize and to "grow, but with rigor, and attract new visitors, but taking care of".
The mayor has made it clear to value the history of the municipality, it is also a way of "talking about memory, identity and feeling of belonging" and pride for the residents of Salou.
In this line, the general director of Tourism, has highlighted the ability of Salou to innovate in tourism, from sustainability and making compatible the coexistence between permanent and seasonal residents. Lagé has praised Salou within the framework of tourism in Catalonia, one of the main tourist destinations in the world.
During the presentation of a video that in 8 minutes summarizes the history of Salou from antiquity and its vestiges, Iberians, Greeks and Romans, to the present day passing through the most outstanding events of its history during the Middle Ages including the campaign of reconquest of King Jaume I, the time of piracy, maritime trade from the port of Salou or the Civil War among other remarkable facts.
The event has been accompanied by a tasting of dishes cooked by the main restaurateurs of Salou, all of them with local products and inspired by the most outstanding events in the history of Salou. The one in charge of presenting the powerful tasting offer was the Michelin star chef and Sol Repsol Pep Moreno.
