Salou invites visitors to save water

Salou. Costa Dorada. 09 August 2022. Faced with the widespread drought situation, the Salou Tourism Board invites visitors to save water through the "Bring memories, not water" campaign. Salou thus joins the initiative of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Catalan Water Agency to raise awareness in the tourism sector of the need to save and reuse water.

The campaign consists of the distribution of posters and informative brochures at tourist offices, beach services and various accommodations. In addition, a survey will be carried out to tourists, administrations and companies to determine new strategies, mechanisms and campaigns to promote responsible water consumption and reuse.

In addition, tourist accommodation participating in the campaign will receive a manual of technologies and best practices for more sustainable water management and the promotion of reuse in their establishments.

The campaign is part of the LIFE Wat'Savereuse European project, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Catalan Water Agency, together with the Catalan Water Partnership and Eurecat. Likewise, Salou's participation is important for the renewal of environmental and quality certifications on its beaches, such as the Blue Flag; ISO 14.001:2015; the UNE-ISO 13.009:2016 or Q de Platges, and the Safe Tourism Certified.

The mayor of Salou and president of the Municipal Tourism Board, Pere Granados, has pointed out that "the responsible consumption of water is a duty that we all have". "As a tourist municipality, both from a public and private point of view, we are very aware of the value of this precious asset, and we act accordingly to promote and enhance the saving of water, in all aspects and areas ".
